Show Notes Transcript

Enneagram in Real Life (IRL for short!) is a new weekly podcast about the Enneagram.

I'll be interviewing guests of each type about what it's like to be their type, and I'll ask them all sorts of questions about their day-to-day lives, work, and growth. Each guest will also share books and advice that have changed their life, and we've got a great list already!

Come back here on July 12th for the first episode.

This podcast is a production of Nine Types Co. LLC. It is created and produced by Stephanie Barron Hall, with editing help from Brandon Hall, and additional support from Critz Collaborations. Our music is by Doctor Dreamchip, and you can listen to more of their music on Spotify.

Welcome back to ask an Enneagram coach. And I know what you're thinking. It's been awhile and yes, it definitely has been a while. And I wanted to share a little bit about what's been going on from my end and share with you about something that's really exciting. That's coming up. So. When I started asking Enneagram coach, I really did it from this perspective of wanting to kind of share some frequently asked questions. A lot of people asked me the same questions over and over again. And I thought, well, this is like a great idea. I will share, you know, my answers. And then, you know, everyone will get to learn from them. And I really loved the process in specific ways. I love the conversations I was able to have with people via DMS on Instagram, as a result of the podcast. And I loved that. I was able to connect with different people, but what I loved the most about the podcast was actually the interviews. When I got to sit down with my friends, Or are there any Graham teachers and really hear from their perspective? About something that they were really. Interested in or had a specific expertise in. I loved those episodes. So I ended up kind of thinking through that and realizing, oh, those episodes feel really great. They feel easy. I love them. The other episodes sometimes. We're not as exciting to make, even though I think that they really were beneficial. Another interesting thing about this is that actually my, my thoughts have changed about a lot of things within the Enneagram. And so initially I was thinking, well, I want to create an entirely new podcast feed. That kind of reflects the fact that I have changed my mindset a lot. Like I have gotten a lot more education and learned a lot more and really. Invested in understanding the Enneagram and a totally new and different way. And while I think that's really valuable, I also, you know, didn't want to leave you behind if you're still. Subscribed to this feed. So that's why I am updating here. And we're going to move on together with this brand new podcast. And I'm really excited to share with you. So when I said, see you in two weeks and then never popped up again, I. Kind of started re-imagining or dreaming up what this podcast could be. And I came up with this idea. That really goes in line with some other projects that I've been working on, which is taking our understanding of the Enneagram. Below the surface, really understanding what's beyond, what we think about in terms of stereotypes. And I know that if you're here, you probably are really interested in that. So I decided to interview somebody of every type, um, at least a couple somebodies of every type. And I've been working on this for the past six months. So I'm really, really excited that the day is finally here. We can finally. Start to hear some of these interviews. I think they're really interesting and incredible, and I'm so thrilled to be able to share these conversations with you. So with that said, you probably have noticed that there's new podcasts artwork up here. Um, because this new podcast is called Enneagram, IRL or Enneagram in real life, and it's going to be all about the Instagram. It's really about how. We are human beings with all of these different layers and identities and all of these different things that we. Kind of are. Not just at Enneagram type. There's so much more to us. So we'll be talking about that. Every episode, thus far chats about subtypes as well. So be sure to check out the free download that I have for that. And I am just really thrilled to share this. So I am going to go ahead and play the trailer for this brand new podcast. And I'll meet you right back here. In just a couple of weeks with the brand new episodes and interviews with all of these amazing guests. Welcome to Enneagram and real life. A podcast about the Enneagram. This podcast is designed to help you go beyond any grand theory into practical understanding new clarity, fresh insight and all these little aha moments along the way. We're going to be talking about how each type is in real life. So that you can truly deeply understand yourself and your type. I'm your host Steph Baron hall. I'm an accredited Enneagram practitioner. I'm the author of the Enneagram and love, which is a book about relationships and interpersonal communication. I'm the creator of nine types. Go on Instagram. And also a very curious Enneagram, loving human, just like you. I started nine type SKO in 2017. As a way to share my love for the Enneagram with others online. And this little community has grown to over 300,000 people learning about themselves, their relationships, and growing in self awareness together. And one of the things I love so much about this community is the ability to just connect with people and talk. We talk via DM. We talked via email and I get to meet people one-on-one for typing interviews and coaching sessions and in my courses and workshops and all these different spaces. And no matter where we are, the one thing I hear over and over is people saying, how can I really feel sure about my type? How can I actually understand my type, you know, beyond what's on these pages that I see or, or beyond these stereotypes. And one of the tools that I think is the most helpful is actually interviews. Sometimes we get really caught up in reading, whether that's. Instagram, you know, scrolling hashtag Enneagram or whether it's just reading books. We have these literally like two D descriptions of the types. But I find that when we hear people. Talk about what it's like to be there type. We just get something different. When we hear our words, our thoughts coming out of their mouth. All these sorts of things, just come to life and, and things just click. And I know for me, when I first learned about my type, I. Listened to a ton of podcasts, interviews, and panels. And. And I loved hearing from people who were my type or, or actually it also helped me to rule out certain types because reading it on the page, I thought, well, that sounds like me, but hearing people talk about what it's like from the inside out. I thought. You know, that doesn't seem to fit as well. And I just love that ability to experience that and, and to hear people say things that I'm like, wow, I thought I was the only person who thought that way. And I love realizing one that I'm not alone. To maybe there are some things here that I can work on and three. There's just a sense of, of resonance. There's a sense of being seen. And I think that I love feeling that myself, of course, but I also love hearing that from other people and providing spaces where people can experience that. So that's why I created this podcast. I really wanted a space for people to hear from one another to hear from each of the types. And that's what you'll get. When you subscribe to Enneagram, IRL, the podcast, each episode, you are going to hear about a new person of a different type. And you're going to hear what it's like to be that type in real life. We're going to go beyond the stereotypes beyond even beyond the theory and, and really into this practical understanding what it's like to live out these types. Andy. What you can actually take away from them. I'm going to ask them a lot of questions. We're going to go behind the scenes. We're going to kind of get into the weeds a little bit. And I have two really fun questions that I ask every single interviewee. And so those are kind of my favorite. I kind of saved the best for last every episode. So if you are into the Enneagram, you want to hear what it's like to be each type. Maybe you want to hear more about your own type or the others in your life. Make sure you subscribe to this podcast. Subscribe follow whatever app you're using, it will be there in your feed every week. And I look forward to seeing you back here soon. Later this summer for the very first episode of Enneagram IRL. A podcast about the Enneagram. So thank you so much for listening. Thank you for subscribing. I can't wait to talk more about the Instagram with you very soon, and I'll meet you right back here. Thanks.
